Our instructor Andreas Schmidt (55 years old) competed for WCTAG at the German Kickboxing Championships in Sinsheim on 0 October 2022. There fighters from different martial arts, e.g. Taekwondo, Karate, Kung Fu, Krav Maga etc. meet each other. He competed in a total of 8 categories in the heavyweight class and achieved the following results:

• 1x GOLD in Kumdo sword fighting, a duel with foam covered 2-handed swords (from 18 years).
• 2x SILVER in light contact kickboxing veterans (from 35 yrs.) + masters (from 45 yrs.)
• 4x BRONZE in Point-Boxing as well as in Point-Fighting-Kickboxing (from 18 yrs.) + Veterans (from 35 yrs.) + Masters (from 45 yrs.)

Andreas is particularly interested in improving the image of Taijiquan among other martial arts. He wants to show that Taijiquan is not only relaxing and very healthy. He wants to show that Taijiquan is not only relaxing and very healthy, but also that it is a highly effective martial art, in which one does not need to shy away from comparison with other fighters and can prevail victoriously - even at a somewhat advanced age.
